Mathematics 8 consists of four modules with three sections in each module. Students send in an assignment at the end of each section, and each module has a module test or optional module project. The course includes a media CD with several media pieces such as demonstration videos and interactive media.There is no textbook required.

This course features a pretest at the beginning of each section. Students have the option of completing this pretest if they feel that they have a strong understanding of the concepts in the section. Another key feature of the course is the inclusion of the “Thinking Space.” Each lesson throughout the course contains a space along the side of the page where students are encouraged to think beyond the course material as they read.
