REGISTRATION GRADES 10-12

High School students typically fall into two groups:

1. Full-Time Students at DESK

  • Complete the application form below.
  • Submit the 1st online assignment for each course you wish to start.
  • Complete a Graduation Plan and submit it to deskregistration@sd8.bc.ca (contact the Grade 10-12 counsellor if you need help with this).
  • Pay the refundable deposit, if required.
  • (DESK may require a copy of your birth certificate, passport or Landed Immigrant papers.)

If you are taking ALL your courses with DESK, the refundable deposit is $200/student to a family maximum of $300.

2. Cross-Enrolled Students
(who are primarily fulfilling graduation requirements at  another school, but are also taking some DESK courses)

  • Complete the application form below.
  • Submit the 1st online assignment for each course you wish to start.
  • Pay the refundable deposit, if required.
  • (DESK may require a copy of your birth certificate, passport or Landed Immigrant papers.)

If you are enrolled in your neighborhood school for most of your courses then there is a refundable deposit of $0-$150 for each DESK course. Deposit amounts are displayed for each course under the "Our Programs" tab on this website. You may pay by MasterCard, Visa, money order, or cheque payable to DESK.

NOTE: If you are a student in Grade 10 or up and require a Grade 9 course fill in the Grade 10-12 registration form below as normal but in the box labled "Descibe any special learning need" list the requested Grade 9 course(s).

IMPORTANT  -- In the section entitled "PART 1: DESK Courses Being Requested", please select each course only ONCE (Semester 1), even if you intend to work on the course for the entire year.

DON"T FORGET to also list ALL other courses you are currently taking and/or planning to take at other schools, along with the name of the school(s), under the section entitled "PART 2: List Courses from Other Schools".

After you submit the form, you will be emailed a TEMPORARY username and password immediately. Then log on to http://d2l.desk.bc.ca to complete your Initial Assignment(s) online.

PLEASE NOTE!!! 

You will NOT be able to access your online DESK course(s) or your Initial Assignment grade using this temporary username and password.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive your PERMANENT username and password and your graded Initial Assignment by mail.

Commitment/Authorization
  • As a student, I make a formal commitment to work on my DESK courses and to complete assignments as directed.

  • I understand that, as a student, I am not officially active if an assignment has not been submitted for each course. I understand that if I become inactive, then I may be withdrawn from the course.
  • I agree that all course materials received will be kept in good condition and returned upon request of the school. Lost or damaged materials will be subject to replacement costs.
