Special Needs Programs

In most schools, special education presents a challenge. At DESK, we have taken up this challenge, and we excel in providing special education programming. We sit down with all students and their families after they enrol at DESK and develop learning plans tailored to the specific needs of the individual learners. Each plan, which focuses on students' strengths, is flexible and continually refreshed as students meet their challenges with success. DESK's programs, flexibility, and, most important, expertise and experience give us a unique advantage: we are able to truly make a difference in the lives of special needs students.

DESK students experience particular success in special needs programs tailored to help them with:

• Behavioural issues. Providing a quiet, home-based program often helps students who are bothered by others or easily distracted by the classroom environment.
• Autism. Students on the Autism spectrum often struggle to cope in a mainstream school setting. The families of these learners are often the best able to provide positive learning environments for their children, and DESK expertise can ensure the students have the most appropriate programs possible.
• Hearing Impairment. With our program in place, students needing visual and tactile learning experiences often find themselves well-supported by the text-rich options provided by DESK.
